Using recycled materials is ourcontribution to preserving the planet

Using secondary raw materials in production is more than a trend of the 21st century. It is an important step for any manufacturer, which requires careful preparation and calculations. But in the end, it is justified. Not by getting more profit, but by a more important gain — preserving the environment and the planet for future generations. More details about this and why we, as a manufacturer, decided to use secondary raw materials are below in the article.

Secondary raw materials are more expensive than primary ones

It may seem that due to the lack of need to extract raw materials from primary natural resources, their cost is lower. In fact, this is absolutely not true. Secondary raw materials are more expensive to purchase than primary ones. And there are several reasons for this:

  • The costs of collection and sorting require significant effort and investment, including logistics and storage;
  • Processing and cleaning of granules can be extremely difficult and expensive, as it is technologically more complex than the production of raw materials from primary materials;
  • The scale of production from primary raw materials is usually larger than the processing of secondary raw materials, which also allows for a reduction in the cost per unit of production.

Accordingly, the price of purchasing secondary raw materials for us as a manufacturer is higher. That is why our decision to manufacture bale net wraps using partially or completely secondary raw materials is a decision from the area of ethics and environmental responsibility for the planet, and not a business decision to increase the company’s profitability.

By supporting the policy of using secondary raw materials, you also become a participant in the correct environmental policy aimed at preserving natural values and improving the environment. We, on our part, as a manufacturer, are ready to manufacture products from 5 – 100% secondary raw materials of your choice. Just discuss this point with our technical department at the stage of discussing and agreeing on the order.

The quality of Polypak products fully complies with the declared technical characteristics, regardless of the raw materials used for production — primary or secondary. For the production of bale net wraps, we use only high-quality and well-cleaned secondary granules or primary polypropylene

Reasons to use secondary raw materials

There are 4 main reasons why Polypak has been using secondary raw materials in the production  bale net wraps since 2019:

1. Reducing the amount of waste

Recycling waste to produce new products reduces the amount of waste that is sent to landfills or burned. This helps reduce soil and water pollution and reduces emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

2. Saving natural resources

Manufacturing products from secondary raw materials reduces the extraction and use of primary natural resources such as oil, wood and metals. This preserves natural ecosystems and biodiversity, reducing the burden on the environment.

3. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Recycling materials generally requires less energy than producing them from virgin raw materials. For example, producing aluminum from recycled materials requires about 95% less energy than producing aluminum from virgin raw materials. This results in lower greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to global warming.

Every 1 kg of used secondary polypropylene raw material is minus 2 kg of carbon emissions into the environment, which occurs during the processing of oil to obtain 1 kg of primary polypropylene. In addition, we avoid air pollution, which occurs at the stage of polymerization of primary raw materials. Since when cleaning and recycling plastic waste, polymerization is no longer required.

That is why the management of the company Polypak decided to use secondary polypropylene granules. We do this to save our planet.

4. Creating a sustainable production cycle

Using recycled materials helps create a closed production cycle, where materials are returned to production after use. This reduces the need for new resources and supports sustainable development.

Thus, using recycled materials helps reduce the negative impact on the environment and promotes a more rational use of natural resources. Protect the planet‘s natural resources with us by purchasing the products made from recycled materials. Please specify this in more detail when placing your order.
